Architectural Review
Understanding the Architectural Review
Are you getting ready to make an addition to your house or build a new fence in your back yard? No matter how large or small, exterior changes require prior approval. Before you break out the saw or paint brush, make sure to get your plans and colors approved by Skybrook’s Architectural Review Board (ARB). The ARB is made up of volunteer fellow residents who review architectural and landscape changes within the neighborhood to ensure all residences comply with Skybrook’s Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions (CCRs) when it comes to the exterior of your home.
While it may seem arbitrary from an individual homeowner’s perspective, the ARB looks out for the entire community. Aside from stopping residents from painting pink polka dots on their houses, the committee’s job is to make sure that the size and style of the project, the type of building materials being used and the overall look of the new structure or modification adhere to Skybrook’s design requirements. Not only does this keep our community looking cohesive, it also helps to keep property values up by preventing individual structures from standing out.
Submitting an ARB Application is easy. Simply follow the directions provided on the form for the type of change you would like to make, i.e. landscaping, fencing, play equipment, etc. You may refer to the Master Declarations of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions of Skybrook and the Community Rules and Regulations Guidebook for details and guidance. Once completed, mail or email the form to Cedar Management. You can expect a member of the ARB to contact you for a home visit to review the information and obtain any clarification needed. Please allow up to 30 days for a final decision.
